Faintfever
The Voice of Reason
No, life aint always beautiful
Tears will fall sometimes
Life aint always beautiful
But it's a beautiful ride
The cold winds whipped outside as the sun was hidden somewhere behind clouds, or possibly behind the mountain in which this clan of cats lived. The sounds of kits squealing and warriors arguing echoed around the cave. Here and there different cats were pushing snow out of the large cavern camp, while others were moving rocks and stones from the entrances of smaller caves. And yet... others still were pulling the bodies of their fallen clanmates out of the rubble that littered the now smaller looking cave.
There weren't as many of them left, now that the avalanche was over. Hawkclan had lost several strong and proud warriors, young and lively kits, but the also lost Sassystar, their former leader. And though they gained Whisperingstar as their new leader, it was hard to think that such a strong and young leader could be taken so quickly. All nine lives had been evaporated into thin air once the rocks started to fall from the top of the cave.
Exotic blue eyes peered out of the darkness as the small white tom with a brown head walked out from the only cave left unscathed from the avalanche, the Medicine Cat's den. In a way, Faintfever was grateful that it had been his den, that way he could take care of the injured, since not many Hawkclan cats got sick. But yet, it also made him feel bad, there were queens and kits trapped under the nursery cave, elders who couldn't get out quickly from their cave.
A shiver ran through the small tom's body. It was a disaster that had shocked all of his clan to the core. The Hawkclan cats were still counting the living, and trying to find those who might still be alive, as this terrible thing had only happened a day ago, though it seemed like hours since none but the youngest and oldest had slept since then.
Faintfever glanced over and caught sight of his sisters pushing against a large bolder, trying to dislodge it from it's place, two other large warriors were helping the two she-cats. It took the brown headed tom a moment to place the cave, it was the deputy's cave, Whisperstar's former den.
That's right, now they would need a new deputy, and Faintfever wondered if he would need an apprentice soon. His blue eyes looked over to the exhausted queens, there were so few kits left. Tail flickered, the young tom watched as warriors left the mountain cave, and others entered with what looked to be a small mountain hare and an owl that must have been flying overhead.
"Starclan... Why have you punished us?" Faintfever whispered softly, ears flickering as the cold wind from outside swept in and ruffled his fur as if his ancestors were trying to communicate with him.
But the struggles make you stronger
And the changes make you wise
And happiness has its own way of takin it's sweet time
