Wolfstar ft. Bubblebreeze an NPC
On cold leaf-bare days like this, Wolfstar was unwillingly remembering his brother's death and the events the concluded it. While he could be the brother that mourned his brother by brooding in his room, Wolfstar couldn't stand being cooped up in the camp too long and quickly sought out the extension of FalconClean in such a place as the large rocks.
His pawsteps were light as he carried himself in a quick trot, he wasn't in a hurry but he wasn't going to let the day pass him by so he quickly found a place to hunt. Mouth open to taste the wind, he wasn't surprised to find the lack of scents. It was times like these he thought about crossing borders to take a few extra fresh-kill but the death of his brother always hung in the back of his mind. His smokey fur had started to hang down with the mixture of snow and what little mud that he loosened with his pawsteps.
It wasn't until the change of wind did he notice another scent, one he felt himself directed to. Bubblebreeze was her name, her sister was the beautiful Pearlshine, a she-cat he knew and often thought fondly of when thinking of his apprentice days. Directing his paws toward her, he made a kind of noise that brought her attention on him, her eyes weren't lit up like normal, in fact they were a reflection of his own sorrow.
"You think about him too?" He asked moving to sit beside her on the rock, she nodded without words and Wolfstar understood her silence. She was mourning the death of his brother, but this sadness wouldn't be brushed aside easily, it was a sadness of the heart, one that was ease for him since his brother often walked in his dreams.
"You know I think he and you were a lot alike. You both loved to show off and I bet if the snippy Rosethorn hadn't weaseled her way into things, he would have fallen for you." He said in an attempt to console her, he knew it couldn't be easy and he didn't expect her to jump on the band wagon toward recovering, but he felt his thoughts should be heard, not as her leader but as a cat that knew her pain. "There isn't a day that goes by the I don't think of him and days like this I struggle with the dark memories. So many things changed for me during leafbare, losing my brother was sort of caught up in the mix of it all. " He expressed his concerns outwardly, unsure of how to stop himself once he started.
"I know I might be boring out with my sorrows and I ask forgiveness for my rambling." Wolfstar meow was heard in her pretty ears as she broke out of her spell to look up at him and nod, but as he rose up to leave her paw reached out to touch his shoulder, the only way she knew how to stop him.
"It's like a nightmare. I pray every night that he might come to me in my dreams that I might see him again. I know you can't tell me what you saw when you got your name but tell me that he is happy in StarClan." The words out of her mouth were rough and covered in sadness as Wolfstar stared at her for a moment before nodding his head. "He was there yes and in the dreams since he always seems to be happy. Not for being away from FalconClan but for not having a care in the world. He was always like that you know, he liked the freedom of no worries but he also liked taking the lead, that's why he'd always make the better leader." Wolfstar replied to her, his eyes going down cast. "He was going to leave her you know, once the kits were apprentices. He was going to leave that sour old Rosethorn for me. I was counting down the moons." She blurted out, and that was a pleasant surprise, he always had liked Bubblebreeze more then Rosethorn.
"I would have been proud to see you as his mate and perhaps in his heart you were always there. Bubblebreeze I can ensure you if Jackalclaw promised you such a thing then he meant it in his heart. Never question him and to me you will always be my brother's true mate." He added but as another turn of events he felt her head press against his shoulder, a sort of yowling leaving her throat and he knew that she was crying for the loss of him, Wolfstar knew that sound all to well, he too spent some hours yowling softly to himself for the pain of no family member left. That is where they sat, her head against his shoulder, his tail tucked around her for warmth, a few soft yowls of his own mixing in her's it was clear they shared a common bond, the empty hole in their chest of a loved one.
Some time past and they moved apart, no words were spoken as Bubblebreeze excused herself to finish her hunt and Wolfstar sat there on that rock, his eyes drifting upward toward the changing dusk sky. "She would have been good to you, why did you have to leave? She loves you and always will, keep a nest warm for her in your heart so when she joins StarClan, you two can be together again at last." He prayed out loud to his brother's star in the sky, a sorrow filled note before leaping down from the rock and returning home, his heart a little heavier but also a little warmer.
