Lark-kit was born into a nest of feathers, but it was also filled with blood. Her mother did not survive the kitting, and so little Lark-kit was given to a foster mother. As she grew, she never knew her father (because he did not come to claim her), and kits of her foster mother made it known that she was not related to them. So Lark-kit grew up rather alone in the world, and spent her days in the elder's den. There, she learned the history of the Clans, the different positions in the Clan, and found cats who actually cared for her. One day, she visited at the same time as Yarrowmint, the medicine cat, and the blind she-cat remembered the orphan kit and began talking with her. After that day during her fourth moon, Lark-kit spent time in the medicine den, keeping Yarrowmint company. It was no surprise that the aging she-cat took the orphan as her apprentice.
Larkpaw thrived as a medicine cat apprentice. While apart from the others her age, her mentor truly cared for her and became her friend. Because she felt indebted to Yarrowmint, she threw herself into her training and did her best to learn quickly. While she struggled at first, Larkpaw found her rhythm after a few moons. Yarrowmint was always patient with her, so she never felt too bad about learning slowly, but a small guilt still nagged at her. However, once she leaped over her proverbial rock, Larkpaw made up for the slow start.
Larkpaw loved the world of healing, because there she could make things right and better. Inside the den, cats came to her for help, and everything seemed much better than kithood. Thankfully, her apprenticeship went well.
